Angela is a young local artist from nearby Thornbury, in South Gloucestershire. She was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Asia and the Middle East, before secondary school in Gloucestershire. She completed her Art Foundation at Bath University in 2018 before going on to complete an Illustration degree at Falmouth University, graduating in 2021. Living in the area she has completed numerous detailed black and white drawings of local landmarks, including Thornbury Castle, the Purton ship hulks and, of course, Dr Jenner’s House. She has also done live scenes of local markets and cafes. Her drawing style, using a variety of fine point pens, makes particular use of blocks of black, which create positive and negative spaces in the drawings, highlighting the more intricate details in each work she completes. Whilst the drawings are recognisable as specific places or buildings, each work includes Angela’s particular perspective of the place and reflect her personal interpretation of what she sees.
