Meg Lansdowne
Stained glass
Kingshill House
Megan Lansdowne is a stained-glass artist living in Cam. She runs Poppy Glass Studio in a purpose-built garden chalet from where she has produced many bespoke pieces, from small sun catchers, ornaments and 3D creations to stunning eye-catching windows, doorways and wall hangings.
Meg began her journey with stained glass when she herself was completing her A level in art, and wanted to explore work in different mediums. What started out as a hobby for a number of years became the focus in 2015 when she started Poppy Glass Studio.
Formerly a secondary school teacher, Meg is still passing on knowledge to others, but now in one of her many classes held in the studio. Meg has a passion for inspiring others to explore their creative side and loves seeing people learn how they can use shape light and colour to bring an idea to life.
Meg takes her inspiration from what she sees around her. She enjoys exploring the colours and textures within the glass, testing her abilities with increasingly complex designs. She is particularly influenced by nature, working with wood to compliment some of her designs, as well as bright bold colours. She is keen to see that the glass is shown to its full potential, carefully selecting the pieces that work best for the purpose.
The stained glass Meg has created has seen her filming for TV, allowed her to raise funds for the NHS through the sale of the incredibly popular rainbow hearts, and seen commissioned work sent worldwide.
