Rita studied printed textile design and fine print at Manchester Polytechnic, followed by many years as an art tutor. Her current paintings, mainly in acrylic inks on a highly textured or collaged ground, are developed from observational drawings, colour studies and location photographs. The natural environment provides the main source of inspiration, from walking in the local woodlands, to rockpools at the coast or the mudbanks of the River Severn.
